WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lighting Event Lead to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the lighting setup and execution of events, working closely with producers, clients, and technical directors to ensure a seamless event experience.

You will play a key role in lighting design, show-site execution, inventory quality control, and event support across lighting, rigging, and power.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the lighting design of live corporate events.
  • Regularly operate a lighting console (grandMA) on show site.
  • Support quality control of inventory across lighting, rigging, and power.
  • Serve as the on-site subject matter expert for lighting, rigging, and power, with a primary focus on lighting.
  • Work closely with the Lighting Department Manager, Warehouse Manager, and other team members.
  • Assist with pulling orders, loading and unloading trucks, maintaining inventory, and providing event support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Who you are

Our most successful Lighting Event Leads typically possess the following strengths and experience:

  • Live event lighting experience with at least two years of responsibility for executing lighting elements during events.
  • Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) Vectorworks, Lightwright, and grandMA lighting consoles.
  • Understanding of power distribution and DMX signal flow.
  • Previous experience managing or leading on-site event crews.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Strong self-motivation and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to remain composed in fast-paced or high-stress event environments.
  • Flexible availability to support event schedules.
Key responsibilities

The Lighting Department Lead is responsible for overseeing lighting production for corporate events and ensuring successful execution from planning through strike.


Pre Event

  • Take ownership of the success of the event
  • Work with Producer and TD to understand scope
  • Create design and technical plan
  • Verify inventory in Lightning
  • Flag cross-rental needs
  • Create show documentation (Vectorworks drawings, power calculations)
  • Share documentation with on-site crew
  • Ensure gear is QC’d, pulled, and loaded

On Event

  • Serve as gear expert for the department
  • Lead the department crew
  • Hold quick pre-load-in meeting
  • Assist other teams when needed
  • Execute a successful event
  • Oversee department strike
  • Assist with truck loading

Post Event

  • Unload trucks
  • Assist with QC and returns
  • Work with department manager to improve processes
  • Assist with gear maintenance
  • Participate in training opportunities
  • Support warehouse operations
